VLDEFI Scholarship Program - Concepcion, Iloilo, Philippines
Empowering Lives, Inspiring Hope, Building Futures.
Our Roots and Mission
In 1980, inspired by their deep-rooted Filipino values of community and service, the Depakakibo Family embarked on a mission to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged families in Concepcion, Iloilo, and the surrounding remote islands.
Witnessing firsthand the challenges these communities faced—lack of access to quality education, limited resources, and a sense of isolation—the family knew something had to change. With a shared vision of bridging the education gap, they founded the Victorina Leonidas Depakakibo Educational Foundation, dedicated to bringing learning opportunities to children who would otherwise be left behind. The foundation wasn't just about offering academic resources; it was about empowering the next generation with the tools they needed to break free from cycles of poverty. We believe in the transformative power of education to change lives, just as it had impacted our own.
Our family’s unwavering dedication to the project reflects their commitment to preserving our culture and values, passing them down through generations while uplifting the communities we hold dear. Today, the Victorina Leonidas Depakakibo Educational Foundation continues to thrive, making a difference not only in Concepcion but also in the neighboring islands, carrying the torch of Filipino tradition and hope for future generations.
“We hope our legacy and foundation will continually to serve as a beacon of hope, a place where children could dream beyond their circumstances, knowing there are people who care enough to help them realize those dreams.”

In Honor of My Grandmother, Daisy Yadao Depakakibo
A Legacy of Faith, Hard Work, and Quiet Strength. My grandmother, Daisy Yadao Depakakibo, lived a life guided by faith, discipline, and quiet service. She didn’t seek attention. She prayed deeply, worked tirelessly, and gave generously.

Her influence was steady and deeply felt. Through her example, she taught us that a meaningful life isn’t measured by recognition, but by the lives we quietly uplift.
In her memory, we are committed to continuing what she embodied. That means supporting families who strive to create better lives. We believe education is one of the greatest tools for change—and that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible.
This is about more than remembering her. It’s about carrying her values forward, through real action that reflects who she was. I honor her not just with words, but with purpose.
